KINGS COLLEGE HOSPITAL
Working closely with leading
Architects Viscom provided all of the Audio Visual equipment for
the Dulwich Room which included 61" NEC Plasma screen and
Crestron STI-1770c unit RF controlled touchpanel
A Lutron lighting and dimmer
control was supplied to control each lighting channel. The room
was entirely refurbished including the supply and fitting of a
contemporary LED chandelier, a complete hot and cold food server
incorporating a Crestron controlled 20ft blind, air
conditioning, and motorised curtains which covered the entire
45ft length of the room.
The Crestron touchpanel
control also controlled the 10 data inputs which were designed
into recessed panels in the centre of the Boardroom table. A
lectern and under table PC plus DVD / Video and satellite inputs
were also supplied and installed into the rear of the room with
Denon audio and JBL ceiling speakers.

- Creative Lighting
can be used to great effect to add to the drama of a meeting
or to draw attention to specific areas such as a lectern or
a meeting table. Integrate lighting with the control systems
such as Crestron or Lutron and the show comes alive. When
you select the projector or video-conferencing from the
Creston touch panel the lighting can be set to follow the
display and dim to an appropriate for which ever type of
meeting you are conducting.
- Video Conferencing
today is easier than ever before, although there are
advanced features available on most videoconferencing
systems, these do not need to be used if not necessary. A
line is required for the communication between the near and
far-end systems and this can be either ISDN digital
telephone lines or IP based computer networks.

Video conferencing systems vary from entry-level systems set top
systems to advanced installed systems in boardrooms and meeting
rooms. The later require careful system design and expert
installation and can be used with either plasma screens or
projectors.
Viscom audio visual solutions offers a co-ordinated
AV package built around a simple electronic push-button control
panel or Crestron touchpanel that can be fitted into a desk or
lectern.
A typical
system comprises:
- Crestron
wireless or Wired control panel for source selection &
transport (play/pause/FF/rew/stop)
- Two or
more data inputs from lectern, floor panel or wall plate
with audio follow channel for each device installed
- Latest
multimedia projector & screen (or a plasma display)
- DVD/video
recorder or combi
- High
quality audio amplifier & speakers
-
Custom-built lockable cabinet or lectern with equipment rack
- Optional
videoconferencing
- Optional
interactive whiteboard
- Optional
radio mics & additional inputs
- Front projection is often
used in Conference Rooms but rear-projection is often
used as it presents an uncluttered solution, only the image
is visible. Where rear projection is not possible then
ceiling mounted projection is the best option. Front
projection can be hidden away using projector hoists which
keep the projector hidden in the ceiling void until it is
required. Couple this with an electric projection screen and
you have a tidy presentation environment.
- Plasma and LCD
displays are ideal when using videoconferencing in
boardrooms and smaller conference rooms. Their slim profile,
stunning video quality and image brightness make them
perfectly suited to environments with high ambient light
levels such as boardrooms with large windows.
- Crestron Control processors and touch panels hold an advanced presentation
system together. Offering exceptional ease of use, when
programmed correctly, ensures the boardroom system will
function properly and will be used often – maximising your
return on investment.
